This website is dedicated to the life and work of the artist Franz Elmiger and offers a comprehensive insight into his works, studies and drawings as well as information about his home in Ermensee in the Lucerne Seetal. Thanks to intensive research and collaboration with relatives, friends and the art market, previously unpublished documents have been viewed and interviews conducted to create this digital journey of discovery.
The website includes information about Franz Elmiger’s biography, exhibitions of his works and a non-public database (catalog raisonné) with details of his works, provenance and further research opportunities.
Franz Elmiger’s work has remained present in Central Switzerland, and his legacy continues to be cultivated thanks to collectors and art lovers. Key works have been exhibited in renowned Swiss art museums, and in recent years information from private and public collections has been gathered and digitized.
The website was initiated by Eugen Elmiger, a great-nephew of Franz Elmiger, and created with the support of family members and friends. Visitors to the site are encouraged to provide relevant information and photographs for the catalog raisonné. All information about private owners will be treated confidentially.
The “Projects & News” section keeps visitors informed about latest news and future plans and includes the publication of a newsletter to which visitors can subscribe.
